Strategic
Development
Our
commitment to sustainable development and the better management
of natural and heritage resources guides our involvement in a range
of strategic services, including the development of management policy,
preparation of feasibility studies and plans, and provision of capacity
building.
In the UK, we have prepared guidance on the strategic management
of protected landscapes and have developed policy guidance on protected
area funding arrangements and management mechanisms. We have conducted
governance reviews for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB's)
and have undertaken site assessments and evaluations for management
and sustainable development.
Our work in other countries includes policy reviews, capacity building
and consultancy for protected area management, and tourism and economic
development.
Our
work includes;
- Guidance
on management issues, and capacity building, for UK and Eastern
European protected areas including AONB's and National Parks
- Governance
reviews for AONB's and research contracts on AONB funding, management
models and socio-economic evaluation
- Evaluation
of projects for the Countryside Agency, National Trust and local
government
- Stakeholder
and community consultation for project planning and development
- Strategies,
plans and feasibiliy studies for countryside and environmental
projects
