Heritage
Interpretation
Interpretation
is both a process of explanation and a vital management tool for
organisations and site managers. It is a part of the communication
process that helps to relate a site to its audience, to engage positively
with the community and to generate support and understanding about
people and places. It can also be an integral part of the marketing
process.
Our
aim in interpretation is to develop innovative and fun ideas that
help to bring places alive and develop rapport and enthusiasm in
audiences. Our broad understanding and experience in heritage and
biodiversity management enables us to consider the big picture
for an organisation or site and the vital linkages between interpretation
and site management. We work at all levels, from preparing strategic
plans to delivering interpretation programmes and producing leaflets.
In
our practical interpretation work we work closely with designers,
printers and sign production companies to provide a complete interpretation
production service. We research and prepare interpretation materials
including leaflets, guides, brochures, panels, exhibitions and newsletters,
and develop exciting interpretation and learning programmes. We
also evaluate existing interpretation provision for clients to assist
with project and development funding bids.
Our
work includes;
- Heritage
strategies and interpretation plans for sites, communities and
regions, and provision of strategic advice on interpretation services
- Access
and Audience Development Plans in conjunction with HLF bids
- Interpretive
media including outdoor panels, walks packs and trail leaflets
for local authorities, the National Trust and other NGO's
- Review
and evaluation of interpretation services for sites and organisations
- Preparation
and delivery of live interpretation and storytelling programmes
to people and places
