Heritage Interpretation
Mining Heritage site, Wales
Our aim in interpretation is to develop innovative and fun ideas that help to bring places alive and develop rapport and enthusiasm in audiences.
Our broad understanding and experience in heritage and biodiversity management enables us to consider the ‘big picture’ for an organisation or site and the vital linkages between interpretation and site management. We work at all levels, from preparing interpretation and visitor experience strategies to delivering interpretation programmes and producing leaflets.
In our practical interpretation work we work closely with designers, printers and sign production companies to provide a complete interpretation production service. We research and prepare interpretation materials including leaflets, guides, brochures, panels, exhibitions and newsletters, and develop exciting interpretation and learning programmes. We work closely with clients and stakeholders and often conduct community participation activities to gather information and gain consensus on outputs. We also evaluate existing interpretation provision for clients to assist with project and development funding bids.
Our work includes:
- Heritage interpretation plans for sites, communities and regions, and strategic advice on interpretation services
- Access and Audience Development Plans in conjunction with HLF bids
- Interpretative media including outdoor panels, walks packs and trail leaflets for local authorities, the National Trust and other NGOs
- Review and evaluation of interpretation services for sites and organisations
- Live interpretation and storytelling programmes for people and places
