Watton Wharf interpretation
Interpretive panel, Watton Wharf
Client
Task
To develop exciting and interactive interpretation for a picnic site at a wharf on the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal, for British Waterways. We worked in partnership with Anglezarke Dixon Associates.
Process
We commissioned a sculptor to create a 3D life-sized model of a man and horse pulling a replica truck, which contains an interpretive panel. We worked with Brecon Brownies to develop poems and stories that are carved into the sculpture. Research for the panel also involved consultation with organisations and the local community.
Benefits
- An exciting structure visible from the canal and the A40.
- An attractive picnic site with effective interpretation.
- An educational product with local input.
