Ystwyth Valley Interpretation & Visitor Experience Plan
Ystwyth Valley
Client
Task
To enhance interpretation and visitors’ experience of the Ystwyth Valley, one of the less-visited valleys of mid-Wales. The valley has extensive tracts of woodland owned by Forestry Commission Wales, including the Repton-designed Hafod estate. We developed the plan in association with Touchstone Heritage Management Consultants.
Process
We consulted widely with organisations and local communities to ensure our proposals were appropriate for the valley and its sensitive resources. The plan recommended an overall themed approach and a series of stories for delivery through leaflets, panels, interactive waymarkers and community-based events.
Benefits
- The plan provides interpretive themes and guidance to Forestry Commission Wales, other organisations and the communities in the area.
- A proposed ‘strapline’ for the valley offers an easy method of continuity for potential providers of interpretation.
- The plan includes a costed programme of action in a wide variety of media.
