Georgia – Communications Strategies

Task

To facilitate the preparation of communications and community outreach strategies for Tusheti and Vashlovani protected areas in the Caucasus Mountain region, and to provide capacity building training in communications techniques

Process

We facilitated workshops in each protected area to identify management and communications aims, key audiences and their characteristics and appropriate media.  We then developed a three-year action programme for communications and community outreach activities and provided comprehensive training on techniques and approaches that would enhance staff capacity and confidence.

Benefit

• The two protected areas had strategies that programmed their communications activities, that would link with future management plans
• Staff have increased skills and confidence in communications and community outreach techniques
