Visitation, product development & marketing policies for Folly Farm
Client
Task
To assess the potential for educational tourism of this 150 hectare ferme ornée and nature reserve, and to produce an outline marketing strategy for the business. The work was carried out as part of a Heritage Lottery Fund bid to restore the ruined farm buildings at the site, and provide a sustainable future for the reserve, open to all.
Process
This work involved detailed research work, site and building assessment and a search for potential partners. Two reports were researched and completed outlining a series of practical opportunities based on national and international best practice with special emphasis on partnership creation, formal school work and informal adult education, niche marketing techniques and special provision for adult disabled access and training in the use of 4WD electric buggies.
Benefits
- Successful bids to Heritage Lottery Fund and South West Regional Development Agency
- Up to 12 full time equivalent jobs and educational and recreational experiences for over 5,000 resident and non resident participants each year.
